Michelle and Lionel Hughes are the founders of Prairies North. They have raised their family and run the magazine in Michelle’s hometown of Norquay since its inception in 1998.
Lionel is an import from Vancouver Island, but Saskatchewan is his definite home now. In between his travel to gather stories and photographs for the magazine (about 5,000-7,000 kms per issue), he enjoys reading and maintaining the family farm.
With their teenaged children, Aubrey and Magdelaine, being homeschooled, they do a lot of their business activities as a family. They all love the farm and the lifestyle it offers them.
